Cahaba-UAB Family Medicine Residency - Frontier Track

The Cahaba + UAB FMR Frontier track is a new addition to the Cahaba residency family. Although the residency aspect is new, the clinic which our residents and student rotators participate in is well established (2015) and laid back, warm interactions between staff are typical. Students who rotate here spend time with our inaugural class of residents as they integrate into the Bessemer community. Frontier residents spend one year in Bessmer, AL and 2 years in rural Camden, AL.

Why should a Christian student apply to your program?

Our Frontier program is a mission field looking for those willing to serve some of the most underserved communities in our state. As an opportunity to put faith into action, students are welcomed into serving these communities by participating in improving access to care and engaging with patients' needs in a holistic way.

What specific resources are available within your program or community to encourage spiritual growth?

Our frontier program is significantly more remote than our urban and rural programs, so it is a bit more removed from faith resources. We do have a number of staff members willing to host bible studies should that be something students are interested in.

Do you accept/sponsor visas for international students or medical schools?

We currently do not.
